Comprehensive care:

We are uniquely qualified to assess and care for any cardiovascular condition, no matter how rare. You can receive diagnostic testing and long-term monitoring for complex coronary artery disease, heart valve conditions and advanced heart failure. Our experts can also evaluate uncommon problems with the heart muscles, cardiac infections and amyloidosis.

Heart Imaging Services We Offer

From diagnostic testing to imaged-guided treatments, you can count on Cleveland Clinic London to provide the heart care you need. We offer:

Echocardiography

Echocardiography (echo) uses ultrasound (high-frequency sound waves) to create detailed, moving images of your heart’s structure and function. We offer both 2D and 3D echocardiograms. A consultant specialising in echocardiography is available 24/7 to read and interpret scans, so you will receive rapid results — usually within 24 hours.

Our echocardiography services include:

  • Strain imaging echocardiogram: Spots subtle problems, such as heart muscle deterioration and blood clots
  • Contrast echocardiogram: Uses injected contrast solution to highlight problem areas not visible on ultrasound for diagnosing heart defects or an unexplained stroke
  • Advanced stress echocardiogram: Evaluates advanced coronary artery disease, structural problems and other conditions — including long COVID — and can be combined with exercise testing to check your heart and lungs at their peak exertion

Cardiac CT

We use cardiac CT scans to create multiple images of your heart to help us:

  • Find areas where your blood vessels might be blocked with plaque from atherosclerosis
  • Detect coronary disease in early stages
  • Carefully plan keyhole interventional procedures, such as transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI)
  • See if your heart is inflamed, infected or swollen with fluid

Our cardiac imaging experts operate a dual-source CT scanner that captures highly detailed X-rays of your heart in nearly half the time of a traditional CT test. This technology is especially useful if you have certain factors that can make standard CT scan results less dependable, such as:

  • High body mass index (BMI)
  • Abnormal heart rhythm
  • Calcium-containing plaque in arteries caused by coronary artery disease

AI-based CT heart attack risk assessments

Here at Cleveland Clinic London, we can take your cardiac CT results to the next level by predicting your future cardiovascular risk. Available as part of our Executive Health screens or as a standalone test for self-payment, CaRi-Heart® uses artificial intelligence (AI) to find coronary fat and inflammation on cardiac CTs. It can forecast your relative risk of a fatal heart attack within the next eight years. We also offer a similar CaRi-Plaque® test to pinpoint cardiovascular plaque on your scans.

CT coronary angiography

We may do a CT coronary angiogram to study your arteries and determine your fat attenuation index. This involves injecting contrast dye into your bloodstream and performing CT scans to create 3D images of your heart. We then look at the fat surrounding your blood vessels to measure inflammation and predict your risk of a heart attack.

Cardiac MRI (CMR)

Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging uses magnets and radio waves to create clear, highly detailed images of soft tissues in your heart, including muscles and blood vessels. We may use CMR to detect:

At Cleveland Clinic London, you’ll get access to some of the most sophisticated CMR scanners available — along with swift results provided by an elite imaging team.

Interventional cardiology

We also use imaging technology to help us perform precise interventional, catheter-based procedures, such as:

  • Heart ablation
  • Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI)
  • Transcatheter mitral valve implantation (TMVI)
  • Transcatheter tricuspid valve interventions

Our consultants see patients in modern and technologically advanced facilities in the heart of London.
