Biography & Education
About Dr Rachel Farrell
Dr Rachel Farrell is a consultant neurologist with a special interest in Neurological rehabilitation, symptom management and neurodisability.
Dr Farrell qualified in 1999 from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and completed general medical training, MRCP and early specialist Neurology training in Ireland.
Dr Farrell moved to the U.K. in 2004 to undertake a PhD in Neurosciences (Multiple Sclerosis / Neuroimmunology) at the University College London (UCL) Institute of Neurology, Queen Square London. Having completed neurology training Dr Farrell furthered her clinical expertise in a Neurorehabilitation fellowship before being appointed a Consultant at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN), Queen Square.
Dr Farrell has extensive experience in inpatient and outpatient based Neurorehabilitation for people with neurological conditions due to: stroke, brain injury, multiple sclerosis and other inflammatory conditions, movement disorders, cerebral palsy, both in the acute and chronic phase.
She has particular interest in walking impairment and spasticity management including botulinum toxin and intrathecal therapies.
Dr Farrell continues to provide a general neurology service in parallel to this and her research and teaching activities relate these activities
