About Mr Manish Desai
Mr Manish Desai is a Consultant in Spinal Cord Injury and Rehabilitation Medicine with expertise in Spinal cord injury, Neurological and Trauma rehabilitation.
He is employed full time by The London Spinal Cord Injury Centre, Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust, and Stanmore since June 2012.
Annually Mr Desai reviews approximately 550-600 complex spinal injuries patients on an outpatient basis, and at a given time he has minimum, 14 inpatients with complex spinal injuries under his care for specialist rehabilitation at London SCIC and other private units.
He received his specialist rehabilitation medicine training in Newcastle upon Tyne, Middlesbrough and Sunderland from 2007 to 2011. He has nine peer reviewed publications, 1 under submission and have had been invited as a speaker and his work presented at many national and international meetings.
He is very much interested in teaching and education of postgraduate trainees, nurses and other healthcare professionals. Mr Desai is a fellow member of Royal College of Physicians, London.
Mr Desai has been appointed as a Regional Speciality advisor for Rehabilitation Medicine, by Royal College of Physicians, London.
He has been appointed as an honorary clinical senior lecturer in the Institute of Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Science, UCL. He received “Best services for tetraplegia Year 2016” award, by “Regain” sports charity.
