About Dr Charles Mackworth-Young
Charles Mackworth-Young has 32 years' experience as a consultant rheumatologist and general physician, practicing at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and in the private sector.
In the NHS he was for many years Chief of Service for a range of medical specialties including acute general medicine, while in the private sector he was Medical Director of King Edward VII Hospital, London, which led to his being awarded the Royal Victorian Order for services to the Royal Family.
He also has extensive experience in scientific and clinical research, research administration, teaching and ethics. He was appointed Professor of Practice at Imperial College in 2017, and research interests include the immunology of autoimmune diseases and local treatments for osteoarthritis.
