Biography & Education
About Dr Simon Sporton
Dr Simon Sporton qualified in medicine in 1991 from the University of London. He undertook postgraduate training in in Leeds and London before undertaking sub-specialist training in Cardiac Electrophysiology (the management of heart rhythm disorders) at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, where he was appointed in 2004 as a consultant.
Dr Sporton is currently the Deputy Medical Director of the Barts Heart Centre, one of the largest cardiac centres in Europe. His practice encompasses all aspects of heart rhythm management, including catheter ablation and device therapy - pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation therapy for heart failure.
He has sub-specialist interests in leadless pacing, lead extraction and the management of heart rhythm problems in people undergoing treatment for cancer and those with cardiomyopathy.
