Biography & Education
About Dr Maresa Carulli
Dr Maresa Carulli attended the University of Medicine and Surgery in Modena in Italy where she qualified with top honours in 1992. She moved to London In 1994 to pursue research in Rheumatology at the Royal Free Hospital and subsequently completed her training in General Medicine and Rheumatology in London South Deanery. During this time she obtained a Msc in Rheumatology with distinction from King’s College . Following this she returned to Royal Free Hospital where she wrote and MD thesis in Scleroderma.
She was appointed as a General Physician and Rheumatologist at Hammersmith Hospital Imperial College NHS trust in 2008. Here she has developed the general rheumatology service and the specialist service in scleroderma , in particular the interface with the pulmonary hypertension and interstitial lung disease clinic. She is an active member of the UK Scleroderma study group and has been recently been involved in the drawing up the current BSR guideline for the treatment of Raynaud’s and Scleroderma. In addition to this she has an important role in teaching of the undergraduates and is currently Unit Training Lead for Imperial Rheumatology department.
In addition she has now taken up the role of lead of Osteoporosis service at Imperial Rheumatology.
