About Mr Rowland Rees

Mr Rowland Rees is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and Andrologist at Cleveland Clinic London, University Hospitals Southampton and University College London Hospital (UCLH), and one of the UK’s leading specialists in male genital and reconstructive urology.

Since 2009, he has provided a regional andrology and genito-urethral reconstructive surgery service across the Wessex region, alongside a specialist tertiary referral practice at UCLH for complex penile prosthesis and penile cancer surgery.

Mr Rees qualified in medicine from The Royal London Hospital in 1995. He completed general surgical training at St George’s and The Royal Marsden Hospitals, higher urological training in the Wessex Deanery, and a fellowship in andrological surgery at the Institute of Urology, London. He later undertook advanced post-certification training in prosthetic urology in the USA.

He specialises in all aspects of andrology and male genital surgery, including urethral stricture disease, Peyronie’s disease, erectile dysfunction, penile prosthesis implantation, vasectomy reversal, male infertility, foreskin conditions and scrotal pathology. He performs more than 300 specialised procedures annually, including urethroplasty, penile implants, micro-TESE sperm retrieval, artificial urinary sphincters and male slings, and is among the highest-volume surgeons in the UK for several of these procedures.

Mr Rees is a past Chairman of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) Section of Andrology and Genito-urethral Surgery and has represented Wessex on the NHS England Urology Clinical Reference Group. He has over 25 years’ research experience, with more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and serves on academic journal editorial boards. He is an invited speaker and surgical trainer nationally and internationally.

Outside work, he enjoys cycling, singing and spending time with his family.
