About Dr Narbeh Melikian
Dr Narbeh Melikian is Consultant Cardiologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Cardiology at King’s College Hospital (NHS Practice) and The Cleveland Clinic London (Private Practice).
Dr Melikian graduated from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals Medical School, University of London, before embarking on a comprehensive postgraduate training programme in general and interventional cardiology in London at The Hammersmith, Royal Brompton and King’s College Hospitals. During this period he also undertook a two year fellowship at the prestigious Aalst Cardiovascular Centre in Belgium.
Dr Melikian was appointed to his current post at King's College Hospital in 2010.
Throughout his career Dr Melikian has received several clinical and academic distinctions including The British Cardiac Society John Parker Fellowship, The Foord Caiger Prize in Cardiology and The Golding Bird and Treasures Medals.
He has broad expertise in all aspects of general and interventional cardiology and has a specific interest in complex angioplasty. Dr Melikian's structural interventional practice is centred around septal (PFO and ASD) and left atrial appendage (LAA) closures and he has been instrumental in securing national commissioning status for these procedures at King’s College Hospital. He also chairs the Neuro-Cardiac Multidisciplinary Meeting at King’s College Hospital.
Alongside his busy clinical practice he also maintains an active research programme and is recipient of competitive research grants from the British Heart Foundation, British Cardiac Society and The Academy of Medical Sciences.
