About Dr Caoimhe Nic Fhogartaigh
Dr Caoimhe Nic Fhogartaigh is an Infectious Diseases and Microbiology Specialist with more than 5 years consultant experience in a busy London NHS Trust.
Her areas of interest include general community- and hospital-acquired infection, Antimicrobial Stewardship, infections in patients with kidney disease, skin and soft tissue infection, SARS-CoV-2 therapeutics and imported infections.
She trained in Medicine at Queen's University Belfast graduating in 2001 with Honours.
Dr Nic Fhogartaigh moved to London in 2006 to pursue a career in Infectious Diseases and gained experience at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, University College Hospital, before successfully completing the Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene in 2007.
She trained in Infectious Disease & Microbiology at the Royal Free Hospital, Guys & St Thomas' and University College Hospital and spent 18 months working with the Wellcome Trust on diagnostic research and laboratory capacity building in Laos at the Lao-Oxford-Mahosot Wellcome Trust Research Unit.
Dr Nic Fhogartaigh has worked for more than 5 years at Barts Health and is about to begin a consultant post at King's College Hospital.
