Biography & Education
About Mr Chung Sim Lim
Mr Chung Sim Lim is a consultant vascular and endovascular surgeon. He qualified from Barts Health Trust and the London Medical School, and obtained his PhD from Imperial College London. He completed his higher specialist training in general and vascular surgery in London including with placements at the Royal Free, Charing Cross and St Mary’s hospitals. He also undertook a year of senior clinical fellowship in the management of complex venous diseases at St Thomas’ Hospital in London.
Mr Lim’s NHS practice is based at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr Lim has a subspecialist interest in the management of complex venous diseases (ranging from varicose veins to deep venous diseases) and vascular anomalies. His other clinical expertise includes the management of peripheral arterial diseases, diabetic foot, carotid artery diseases, aortic aneurysms, lymphoedema and thoracic outlet syndrome, and vascular surgery in children.
Mr Lim’s is also an Honorary Associate Professor in the University College London. His main research interests focus on translational and clinical studies on the management of complex venous diseases and vascular anomalies. He previously gained vascular biology research experience from Imperial College London and Harvard Medical School. He is currently funded by the National Institute for Health Research Biomedical Research Centre to develop and run a large collaborative research programme in the Royal Free London and University College London that aims to characterise biomarkers, and develop three dimensional and computer simulation in the management of patients with vascular anomalies.
