About Mr Timothy Jones
Mr Timothy Jones is a Consultant Neurosurgeon with a subspecialty interest in the management of brain tumours (low-grade glioma, glioblastoma, metastases, meningioma) and the surgical management of facial pain and hemi-facial spasms. He also manages patients with 'general' neurosurgical conditions (e.g. carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, lumbar stenosis, hydrocephalus).
Mr Jones was born in the U.K. and trained at Imperial College School of Medicine, London. He completed his basic surgical training and specialist neurosurgery training in London during which time he also completed a PhD which complements his ongoing research into non-invasive techniques for brain tumour diagnosis and decision making using MRI scans.
Mr Jones obtained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (Neurosurgery) in 2013 and was awarded the Norman Dott ‘Gold’ Medal for placing first nationally. He undertook a Marjorie Newsome travelling fellowship at the Barrow Hospital, Phoenix USA and completed a post-CCT fellowship in neuro-oncology in the U.K..
He advocates that his patients are central to decision-making regarding their treatment, focusing on 'quality of life' as well as longevity. To achieve this, techniques such as 'awake brain surgery', electrophysiological monitoring & mapping and intra-operative imaging and visualisation are the cornerstone of the surgery he performs.
In his spare time, Mr Jones enjoy family life, playing golf; he is also a trustee for a brain tumour charity.
