About Mr George Prezerakos
Mr. George Prezerakos is a Consultant Neurosurgeon with exclusive expertise in spinal conditions. He practices at the National Hospital for Neurosurgery in London, ranked in the top three specialized hospitals in the world. His work focuses on treating a wide range of spinal problems, from common issues like back, neck, and sciatic pain to complex cases such as spinal tumors, second look surgery, fractures, and deformitiy.
Mr. Prezerakos employs advanced, minimally invasive techniques, including tubular access keyhole surgery, motion preservation technologies, spinal robotics and computer navigation, tailored to each patient's specific needs.
He completed the prestigious Victor Horsley Spinal Fellowship at the National Hospital for Neurosurgery and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. His subspecialty training continued at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell, with a focus on minimally invasive, computer-navigated spinal surgery.
Mr. Prezerakos has presented his research on artificial disc spinal motion preservation at international conferenced, he has published on topics on advanced tumor excision techniques and has authored book chapters in cervical deformity correction.
He has received multiple awards, including the Inchape Educational Grant, the Pain Section Prize from the American College of Neurosurgical Societies, and the President’s Travelling Fellowship from the British Association of Spinal Surgeons.
He currently serves as the Neurosurgery BSR lead within the British Association of Spinal Surgeons.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Prezerakos is an Honorary Associate Professor at the Institute of Neurology, UCL, where he regularly teaches medical students and surgical trainees. His current research interests include integrating patient experience into clinical decision-making.
