Biography & Education
About Mr David Nasralla
Mr David Nasralla is a highly skilled surgeon, specialising in the treatment of complex conditions affecting the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. As the Clinical Lead for Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary (HPB) Surgery at the Royal Free Hospital in London, he has become a leading figure in this field. He consistently performs some of the highest numbers of liver and pancreas cancer resections in the UK, with a track record of exceptional patient outcomes (NHS England data). He is also renowned for his experience in the management of gallstone disease and complex abdominal wall hernias, including those requiring complex reconstructions. His work has featured on Radio 4’s Inside Health, the BBC series Hospital and BBC News.
Mr Nasralla’s commitment to advancing patient care is demonstrated by his pioneering approach to treatment. He established the innovative Fast-track Whipples pathway at the Royal Free Hospital, a first-of-its-kind initiative in London that expedites the diagnosis and treatment of patients with pancreatic cancer, avoiding unnecessary investigations and fast-tracking patients directly to surgery - maximising the opportunity for a cure.
In addition to his surgical practice, Mr Nasralla is an accomplished researcher, particularly in the field of liver transplantation. He completed a PhD at Oxford University, where his ground-breaking research focused on novel methods for preserving livers for transplantation; work that was published in the esteemed journal Nature and earned him numerous accolades, including the Rising Star Award from the International Liver Transplantation Society and the prestigious Medawar Medal from the British Transplantation Society.
Through his cutting-edge research, combined with extensive clinical experience, Mr Nasralla is committed to ensuring that his patients receive the highest standard of care available.
