About Mr Charles Imber
Mr Charles Imber is currently a leading London Teaching Hospital HPB Consultant as well as a member of the Liver Transplantation team at The Royal Free Hospital London. He completed his medical degree at Cambridge University, where he also received an honours degree in Oncology and Immunology. He was awarded his higher research thesis MD from Oxford University looking at aspects of liver preservation for transplantation. Mr Imber is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Mr Imber has special interests in complex abdominal wall Hernia surgery, all aspects of benign and malignant Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, Liver Transplantation, Laparoscopic and robotic Surgery and Emergency Surgery. Mr Imber was awarded a HCA Travelling Fellowship in 2012, the Presentation Travel Award from the International Liver Transplant Society (2006), the Medawar Prize Session from the British Transplant Society (2003), and the Hanson Research Fellow and Scholarship from Oxford University (1999). He has over 80 peer reviewed publications in journals including Lancet, Liver Transplantation and HPB Surgery, as well as having written 3 book chapters.
He has an extensive private practice attracting patients from both within the U.K. and also worldwide. He performed the first robotic liver resection and the first robotic pancreatic resections in the U.K. with successful outcomes and is a pioneer in this form of minimally invasive complex abdominal surgery.
