About Mr John Stammers

Following five years as a consultant at St George’s Hospital and the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre, Mr Stammers was appointed as a complex hip, knee and revision surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.

He performs high volume complex primary and revisions with a special interest in the investigation of painful joint replacements and manages patients with infected and failed joint replacements from around the country.

Mr Stammers completed his surgical apprenticeship in world-class institutions performing high-volume hip and knee replacements. His exposure to complex arthroplasty included rotations at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital at Stanmore, the Royal London and Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals.

He refined his subspecialised training by completing two arthroplasty fellowships: at the Barts Elective Orthopaedic Hospital and the Rothman Institute, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia (where he was the first UK trainee to complete this very sought-after operative fellowship). This enabled Mr Stammers to work alongside some world-famous leaders in orthopaedic surgery, performing high volume hip and knee surgeries using the latest technologies and techniques.

He is an expert in the diagnosis and management of hip and knee arthritis, investigating painful hip and knee replacements and revision of failed hip and knee replacements.
