Biography & Education
About Dr Bel Kok
Dr Klaartje Bel Kok studied medicine at the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam and qualified in 2003. She trained in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine in London and has been a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Barts Health NHS Trust since 2016.
She has a specialist interest in inflammatory bowel diseases, including in young adults and during pregnancy, and in nutrition/intestinal failure. Dr Kok is also an experienced endoscopist.
Dr Kok was awarded a PhD in 2009, having studied cell signalling in IBD. She is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London and actively involved in IBD clinical and translational research. She has published in multiple peer-reviewed journals.
She is involved in teaching and training and serves on the United European Gastroenterology Education Committee.
