About Dr Farooq Maniyar
Dr Farooq Maniyar graduated from India and completed his specialist neurology training through the West Yorskshure Deanery in 2012. He is one of the few neurologists in the UK with specialist training in headache disorders and he completed a clinical and research fellowship at the prestigious UCSF Headache Centre in USA under Professor Peter Goadsby. He is affiliated to Barts Health on the NHS.
Dr Maniyar is an experienced neurologist with special expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of headaches and facial pain. He has a particular interest in migraine and Cluster Headache and considerable experience in various treatment options including medications, cranial nerve blocks, Botox, devices including the portable vagal nerve stimulator and TMS, newly available CGRP monoclonal antibodies and runs
an active infusion programme for unremitting acute headache or chronic refractory headaches.
Amongst his various awards and achievements, the most notable is the Harold G. Wolff Lecture Award 2013 bestowed by the American Headache Society for the most influential piece of research in headache.
Dr Maniyar is also adept at treating dizziness, falls and faints, epilepsy, tremor and Parkinson’s disease, functional neurological disorders, general neurology and Visual Snow
Dr Maniyar has published his research mainly in migraine in various peer-reviewed journals and presented his findings in various national and international meetings. He is regularly approached for reviews and critical appraisal of original research. He is involved in clinical trials in migraine including role as a chief investigator.
Outside of work, Dr Maniyar enjoys sports, particularly cricket and badminton. He loves reading and travelling with his family.
