About Mr Daryll Baker
Mr Daryll Baker is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Cleveland Clinic London, the Royal Free Hospital and University College Hospital, including the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery at Queen Square. He read medicine at Oxford University and trained in surgery in Nottingham, London and Edinburgh. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and obtained his research PhD from the University of Wales.
His practice covers the full breadth of vascular disease, with a particular interest in artery and vein problems affecting the head and neck. He carries out stroke-preventing carotid surgery, using both endarterectomy and stenting, and sees patients with carotid body tumours, a rare type of neuroendocrine tumour. He also treats connective tissue vasculopathies affecting the carotid and vertebral arteries, including fibromuscular dysplasia, Marfan syndrome and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and reviews patients who have suffered blunt neck trauma, including those affected by non-fatal strangulation.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Baker is President of the Surgical Research Society, Europe's leading surgical research society. He has previously served as a Council Member of the Vascular Society and as Director of Communications for the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland.
