About Dr Richard Jones

Dr Richard Jones is a Consultant Cardiologist at Cleveland Clinic London and Cardiac Imaging Lead at the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre. He provides expert care for a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, with a particular focus on advanced cardiac imaging and its role in improving diagnosis and treatment.

His specialist expertise includes transthoracic echocardiography, stress echocardiography and transoesophageal echocardiography, which he uses to assess complex heart conditions such as valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy and coronary artery disease. He works closely with multidisciplinary teams to guide patient management and support both medical and interventional treatment decisions.

Dr Jones has a strong interest in integrating imaging into routine clinical practice to enable more accurate, personalised care. He is also actively involved in cardiac research and innovation.

He completed his PhD at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London, where his work led to multiple high-impact publications and international recognition, including a Young Investigator Award at the European Society of Cardiology Congress in 2021.

Alongside his clinical and academic work, he is committed to education and training. As Cardiology Unit Training Director at the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre, he plays a key role in mentoring resident doctors and supporting the development of future cardiology specialists.
