About Mr Sam Parker

Mr Sam Parker is a complex abdominal wall and colorectal surgeon. Mr Parker studied Chemistry at Oxford University before going to Cardiff University to study Medicine. He graduated in 2010, and since then his training has been in London. He obtained his fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2023. During his training, Mr Parker worked at University College London Hospital and the Royal London Hospital and thereafter was appointed a consultant surgeon at Croydon University Hospital in 2025.

Mr Parker’s main interest is in complex Abdominal Wall Reconstruction (complex hernia surgery). He steered his training towards establishing unrivalled expertise within the subspecialty, and is now considered a leading expert within this field. His other clinical interests include Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Diverticular Disease, Coloproctology, and Colorectal Cancer.

Mr Parker is a highly motivated academic within the field of abdominal wall reconstruction. He completed his PhD at University College London (UCL) in 2021. He is currently the principal investigator for the TROCAR trial, which is assessing the usage of a novel suture (DuraMesh) for laparoscopic port-site closure.

Mr Parker lives in South London with his wife and their 3 children. As a family they enjoy bicycling, swimming, and spending time in the country.
