About Dr Pedro Oliveira Castanho

Dr Pedro Oliveira Castanho specialised in neurosurgeon in 2011, and has been a consultant neurosurgeon in the United Kingdom since 2014.

Dr Oliveira Castanho acquired very high standards and extensive experience in neurosurgery, and had the privilege of learning directly from some of the best neurosurgeons in the world. He worked and visited some of the most reputed neurosurgical centres in Portugal, United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Finland and Brazil.

Dr Oliveira Castanho's comprehensive training in neurosurgery provides him with excellent understanding and experience across the different domains of neurosurgery, and directed his training primarily in neurovascular conditions (brain aneurysms, vascular malformations, bypass surgery), conditions affecting the skull base, brain tumours, pituitary surgery, minimally invasive/endoscopic surgery, degenerative spine and peripheral nerve entrapment syndromes and tumours.

Dr Oliveira Castanho provides under- and postgraduate teaching at University College London (UCL) as honorary senior clinical lecturer, and has been invited speaker in various courses and conferences. He loves teaching and has been heavily engaged with it from the very beginning of his career. He has coordinated and co-authored a number of publications in peer reviewed scientific journals

He is amongst the few pioneers in world in exoscopic surgery.
