About Professor Francesca Morgante
Professor Francesca Morgante is Professor of Neurology at City, St George’s University of London. She specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson’s disease, Parkinsonian syndromes, Dystonias, Tremor Syndromes, Rare and complex movement disorders and drug-induced movement disorders.
Prof Morgante has 20 years of expertise in Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for Parkinson’s disease, Tremor and Dystonia. Specifically, she has expertise in advanced DBS programming guided by imaging or neurophysiology. Other areas of expertise include subcutaneous and jejunal infusion therapies for Parkinson’s disease and Botulinum Toxin treatment of Dystonia, including task-specific dystonias of the upper limbs, and injection under EMG guide.
She has dedicated her clinical and research career to the understanding of movement disorders. Her research interests span from studying the neural mechanisms of movement disorders to developing novel neuromodulation paradigms to treat these neurological conditions. She has published more than 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals and many chapters in books focusing on Movement Disorders.
She is one of the Associate Editors of the Movement Disorders Journal, and she is on the editorial board of Movement Disorders, Movement Disorders Clinical Practice, and the Journal of Neurology.
