About Dr Joseph Kwan

BACKGROUND: Dr Kwan has over 25 years of clinical experience in stroke medicine, neurorehabilitation, internal medicine & gerontology. He qualified from UK & USA: Bristol (MB ChB 1994), Southampton (MPhil 2000), Edinburgh (MD 2002), UCL at Queens Square (PG Certificate in Clinical Neurology with distinction 2006), Cornell (Plant-based Nutrition 2015) and UCSF (Dementia Scholarship 2015). EXPERIENCE: Dr Kwan has been a stroke consultant since 2006, visiting professor of medicine at Bournemouth University (2009-20), medical director for regional stroke network (2008-10), and clinical associate professor at Hong Kong University (2014-18). He is currently working as a senior stroke consultant at Charing Cross Hospital, where he is NIHR Stroke Clinical Research Network lead and Imperial Stroke Education Programme director. He has published over 140 scientific articles and book chapters, and won several major awards in stroke care. CLEVELAND CLINIC LONDON: Dr Kwan is a consultant physician in the Neurorehabilitation Unit & Acute Admission Unit, with a Friday afternoon outpatient clinic. You can expect your consultation to be holistic, personalised and bespoke - combining the latest medical advances, lifestyle & nutritional optimisation, and physical activities to improve the well-being of your body, mind and spirit. He can provide guidance on recovery, prognosis, return to work and how to regain your quality of life after your acute illness and stroke.
