Biography & Education
About Mr Senthil Nathan
Senthil is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and Honorary Associate Professor at University College London Hospital NHS Trust and University College London. He specialises in urological cancer surgery and minimally invasive treatments, including robotic surgery, and has performed over 35,000 urological operations, with around 15,000 in the independent sector.
He graduated with honours from Madras Medical College and completed a Master’s in Surgery at Bangalore Medical College, winning the ASI Gold Medal. After gaining his FRCS in Yorkshire, he trained in Urology at the Royal Free Hospital and became an Honorary Lecturer at Guys Hospital. There, he co-developed the Probot with Mr John Wickham, performing the world’s first active robotic surgery, for which he was awarded an MPhil in Urology by the University of London. He holds a fellowship from the European Board of Urology, a Diploma in Laparoscopy from Strasbourg, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
A pioneer of numerous surgical techniques, Senthil has authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles and delivered over 1,000 lectures. He is a member of various medical societies, as well as the MCC, the Travellers Club, and the Madras Club. He serves as Director, Trustee, and Medical Advisor to multiple healthcare and philanthropic organisations.
Senthil directs Robotic Education at the Chitra Sethia Centre for Robotics and is Professor & Chairman of Urology and Director of Robotic Surgery & Surgical Innovations at Cleveland Clinic London. He also sits on the European Robotic Urology Society Education Committee, the Urology Board of the Society of Robotic Surgery, and the Data Committee for the Society of Endourology.
