Biography & Education

About Mr Alex Woollard

Mr Alex Woollard trained at Southampton Medical School and undertook his plastic surgical training in London. He has been a consultant plastic surgeon at The Royal Free London NHS Trust and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (Stanmore) since 2016. Mr Woollard is the lead plastic surgeon providing soft tissue reconstruction for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) which includes sarcoma, complex arthroplasty (upper and lower limb), spine and spinal injuries. He is the lead surgeon for the facial palsy service at the Royal Free and also has a general plastic and aesthetic practice. Mr Woollard specialises in working collaboratively with other surgical specialities in providing complex reconstructions with the aim of maximising the functional and aesthetic outcomes after oncological resection or trauma. Mr Woollard completed his PhD research in cranial nerve regeneration at Harvard University in the Center for Brain Science. He has a specific interest in nerve regeneration and is a recognised leader in the field of targeted muscle reinnnervation (TMR) and regenerative peripheral nerve interface (RPNI) Mr Woollard is the chair of the Cosmetic Practice Standards Authority (CPSA) which is a charity focused on improving the standards of non-surgical cosmetic practice in the UK.
