We also diagnose and treat a range of thyroid conditions, including thyroid cancer. If your provider recommends thyroid or parathyroid surgery, our expert surgeons use the latest techniques to deliver exceptional and comprehensive care.

When you come to see us for an evaluation, we’ll take a detailed medical history and ask about your symptoms. Then, our ENT experts may run several diagnostic tests. You may have:

• Endoscopy: Your consultant uses a thin, flexible tube with a light and camera attached to look inside your body.
• Laryngoscopy: Using a hollow tube with a light attached (laryngoscope), your consultant will look at your voice box (larynx) and throat.
• Microlaryngoscopy: Your consultant inserts a laryngoscope with a microscope attached through your mouth to take a more detailed look at your larynx. You’ll be asleep with general anaesthesia during this procedure. If we find any areas of concern, we can take a sample (biopsy) of your voice box lining.

For your convenience, you can often have a consultation, testing and biopsies on the same day, with rapid results.

Treating Ear, Nose & Throat Conditions

If needed, our expert team performs many different surgeries for a variety of ear, nose and throat conditions. We use minimally invasive, laser and transoral robotic surgery techniques to remove cancerous and noncancerous tumours when possible.

Less invasive methods provide effective cancer treatment while avoiding many complications that can come with treating head and neck cancers — including trouble with eating and swallowing and voice difficulties.

If radiation therapy and chemotherapy are part of your treatment plan, we partner with The London Clinic to ensure you receive comprehensive care.

Should you need reconstructive surgery to repair or rebuild facial structures — like your nose, chin, neck, jaw, mouth or cheekbones — we’ll refer you to one of our excellent maxillofacial surgeons.

Ear and nose surgeries

• Ear surgery: We use surgery to prevent ear discharge and pain and to improve hearing.
• Endoscopic sinus surgery: This procedure relieves sinus blockages. Your consultant uses a thin camera with a light (endoscope) attached to view your sinus tissues and remove diseased or obstructive tissue, if needed.
• Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping): We use this procedure to improve breathing problems or fix problems that result from congenital (present at birth) conditions or trauma.
• Septoplasty: We use this surgery to fix a deviated septum.

Throat surgeries

• Parotidectomy: This surgery removes all or part of your parotid gland, a major salivary gland in your cheek.
• Salivary gland surgery: Your surgeon removes salivary gland cancer cells and all or some of your surrounding salivary glands.
• Snoring surgery: We use minimally invasive surgical treatments to remove or shrink excess tissue and improve snoring.
• Tonsillectomy: Your doctor may remove your tonsils if you have trouble breathing while sleeping, frequent tonsil infections or tonsil stones.
• Voice and swallowing surgery:Our surgeons offer treatments to improve voice and swallowing issues.
