Consultants Who Perform Cancer Surgery
Locations
Our consultants see patients in modern and technologically advanced facilities in the heart of London.Types of Surgery We Offer
At Cleveland Clinic London, we offer a variety of surgical options. Some of our surgical options for cancer include:
- Associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged (ALPPS) hepatectomy: We’re among the few programmes in the U.K. that offers ALPPS for cancers in the central part of the liver. Our surgeons take out the tumour while leaving the tissue around it intact. This method can help many people avoid a liver transplant.
- Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for peritoneal cancer: With this option, we circulate a heated chemotherapy solution throughout your abdominal cavity. The goal? To destroy any cancer that’s still there after surgery. Learn more about HIPEC.
- Pelvic exenteration: This major surgery — which can help relieve pain and is a treatment option for cancer in this part of your body — may be an option if other treatments don’t work or your cancer returns. During this surgery, surgeons remove the cervix, uterus, vagina and possibly other parts of your digestive and urinary tracts. This option can also be appropriate for removing male reproductive organs.
- Reconstructive surgery: If your cancer affects multiple organs, a reconstructive procedure might be part of your treatment plan. Our expert team can use tissue from other parts of your body to repair and restore as much function as possible.
- Complex gastrointestinal and oesophageal cancer surgery: We use sophisticated treatment and reconstruction techniques to successfully treat cases that are considered complicated or complex. For oesophageal cancer, we may use healthy tissue from other parts of your body to rebuild the oesophagus.
- Robotic surgery: Using robots for surgery may sound futuristic, but it’s happening now. We use robotic surgical technologies to carry out some procedures. Robotic surgeries are very precise, minimally invasive procedures that can result in shorter recovery times. At Cleveland Clinic London, we have some of the world’s leading experts in robotic surgery. All of our surgeons who do these operations have a depth of experience, so you can trust you’ll receive exceptional care. Find out more about robotic surgery.
